The hardwood stock has some honest field dings, storage scuffs, and a dark red military finish that tells a real historical story. There are absolutely no structural cracks in the grain. It points naturally straight, making it a very comfortable range shooter.
Troy Voughn –
As expected with any genuine military surplus lot, the receiver arrived caked in thick storage grease. Once I completely stripped it down and did a deep clean, the underlying bluing was in great shape. The chrome-lined 20-inch barrel bore is bright with razor-sharp rifling.
Nathan –
The CNC-machined metal folding mechanism on this setup is incredibly robust. Pressing the release button allows the stock to swing cleanly out of the way, dropping the overall transport length down significantly. It makes storage inside a dense range bag very convenient.
Obryan Morron –
The feeding reliability on this carbine is flawless. Loading the internal 10-round magazine using standard steel stripper clips is fast and intuitive. The tracking follower keeps the rounds level, feeding flat-nosed and FMJ target ammo with zero nose-diving.
Derrick –
Everything on this rifle functions exactly as intended. The spring-loaded trapdoor on the metal buttstock functions perfectly. I managed to track down an authentic surplus capsule kit online, and it slides into the storage channel cleanly without getting stuck.
Shane –
I was thrilled to find an early Type 56 online featuring the original Russian-style blade bayonet rather than the more common spike. The serial number dates it perfectly to the late 1950s, making it an incredible historical piece for my military surplus vault.
Dante Ramirez –
A lot of modern aftermarket stocks force you to remove your bayonet, which ruins the SKS look. The cutout on this Hush stock fits the classic under-folding spike bayonet perfectly. It folds away smoothly into the wood and snaps securely onto the barrel lug when deployed.
Griffin –
I was slightly worried about surplus receiver variances causing loose play, but the drop-in chassis tolerances are highly uniform. The action seated tightly into the recoil lug pillars without needing custom hand-filing, wood shims, or sanding. Ready to roll in under 15 minutes.
Damon –
My Type 56 lot arrived with matching factory serial stamps on the receiver, bolt carrier, and trigger group pack. The classic hood front sight post and sliding 1,000-yard rear leaf sight align dead flat over the stock line, printing neat 2-inch groups at 50 yards.
Tyler Maison –
I wanted a compact 7.62x39mm rifle but didn’t want to lose the historic aesthetic of my military surplus collection. The Hush folding stock matches the SKS footprint beautifully. The side-folding hinge mechanism locks up completely tight with zero wobble when deployed.
Larron Trent –
The rifle arrived at my local gun shop via standard courier heavily wrapped in thick, oil-soaked packing sleeves to guarantee complete protection against transit damage. Outstanding collector care from this store.
Victor –
My lot arrived with matching factory serial numbers stamped across the receiver, bolt carrier, trigger guard, and original wooden stock. The build quality of this early milled receiver is outstanding, easily rivaling the machining found on original Soviet refurbs.
Timothy Wegner –
The folding blade bayonet functions smoothly, unlocking with a quick slide of the spring mechanism and locking tightly onto the barrel lug. The stock features the correct historical widening cut to tuck the blade perfectly flush along the wood furniture when folded.
Lance V –
Weighing in right around 8.5 pounds, the solid wood and steel construction completely soaks up the recoil of the 7.62x39mm cartridge. Firing rapid target strings is an absolute blast, and the last-round bolt hold-open engages perfectly every time.
Garrett James –
Took this rifle out into the damp brush for a weekend tracking loop. The protective lacquer finish on the stock completely beads away morning moisture, and the metal components handle temperature changes beautifully with zero flash-rust tracking along the seams.
Aaron –
The ergonomics on the Hush module are vastly superior to the original military wood profile. The updated grip angle gives you a much higher leverage point, allowing you to absorb the snappy impulse of the gas piston system easily during fast, double-tap target strings.
Silas –
The stock geometry leaves the top breech face completely unobstructed. I ran several 10-round steel stripper clips through the top guide rail loop without a single round catching or binding. The internal 5-round magazine functions perfectly with standard target surplus ball ammo.
